Reiki - what to expect in person

A Reiki session is a gentle, calming experience - think of it as a reset for your energies.

Here’s what happens:

Arrival & Chat

We will start with a short conversation based upon how you're feeling, any areas of stress or pain, or if there's anything you want to focus on (physically, emotionally, or energetically). But there is no pressure to disclose this to me and any information will be held in confidentiality (please note the only time I would need to share this with an outside agency (such as a GP) is if there was any indication that you were at risk of harming yourself or others).

Getting Comfortable

You’ll lie down on a massage table (fully clothed), often with a cosy blanket. Optional to you are soft music, low lighting, and incense - I appreciate that not everyone finds those relaxing so it is very much your choice.

The Reiki Process

I will place my hands just above your body - there is no massage or movement, just still hands.

I then move through different hand positions, usually starting at your head and working down to your feet.

Each position might stay for a few minutes, depending on what I intuitively feel you need.

You might feel warmth, tingling, a pulsing sensation, or just deep calm. Some people even fall asleep - snoring is optional!

What You Feel

Experiences vary. You might feel:

  • Deep relaxation
  • Emotional release (tears, laughter, or just a sense of relief)
  • Subtle energy shifts (a sense of lightness or groundedness)
  • Or sometimes... nothing much at all in the moment - but a shift later

When the treatment is brought to a close, you will have a few minutes to “come back,” drink some water, and if you wish, we can chat about what came up during the session.

Some people feel super calm, some energised, others a bit 'floaty' - but most walk away feeling lighter and more balanced.
